GIGAN was formed in early 2006 by left handed lead guitarist Eric Hersemann. After the breakup of Diabolic (Century Media Records) and having moved on from Hate Eternal (Metal Blade Records), Eric began writing what was to become the first few GIGAN songs and lyrics. Drawing inspiration from all the creative influences that had surrounded him for his whole existence; Eric became conscious of the fact that what he was creating was something more colorful and engaging than anything he had written previously for any other musical project. Before leaving Hate Eternal, Eric managed to form a lasting bond with fellow band mate Randy Piro. This friendship would lead Randy directly into GIGAN's earliest beginnings and subsequently the eventual history of the band. Randy and Eric have combined their love of abstract sounds and extreme tempo's with solid, memorable songwriting and melodic-dissonant creativity. GIGAN entered Mana Studios in Florida to record "Footsteps Of Gigan" and in five days created what has become one of the most intriguing and exciting recordings to come out in 2007. Soon after, drum/percussion ace Danny Ryan was added to the lineup and the group signed with INDEX ENTERTAINMENT, the new company formed by former Olympic Recordings (Behemoth, Vital Remains, Gorguts, Immolation) owner Martti Payne. Produced by Sanford Parker (Rwake, Minsk, Nachmystium), the debut GIGAN record "The Order Of The False Eye" will be released in Mid 2008. Until then, GIGAN will be touring in support of the "Footsteps" recording and writing new material. Intending to expand the mind as well as the listening palette of their listeners is the overall goal of the GIGAN experience. |
